Southeastern Wisconsin has many wonderful places to live, however, if you are looking for one of the most spectacular places to live, you will want to check out “The Preserve at Hunter’s Lake” in Ottawa, Wisconsin.
The Preserve at Hunter’s Lake features rolling hills, woods, prairies, steep slopes, wetlands and a shoreland for your enjoyment. In addition, you will find a one-mile segment of the 1,000 mile-long Ice Age National Scenic Trail which winds its way through the undulating terrain within the community’s common area and then it connects to the private subdivision trails.
The exclusive sub-division includes over 185 acres of permanently preserved open space. During the 1850’s this land was farmed by the Hunter family and is filled rich in history. While farming, they built a lannon stone mansion and established a small stone quarry to serve the area building industry. The quarry later closed and the property was taken over by a prominent Milwaukee brewing family.
The Preserve at Hunter’s Lake is nestled on 285 acres and includes three-fourths of a mile of undeveloped shoreline on Hunter’s Lake, as well as, a small stream-fed lake.
If you are looking for the perfect place to call home, you are in luck. Currently I have a listing in this heavily sought after sub-division. This 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath Colonial located in The Preserve at Hunter’s Lake. As you enter this home, you will be impressed by the beautiful foyer, next we have a formal living room, which has an office/den attached to it. Walk thru the French
doors and come into the cozy family room, complete with Natural fireplace. Next you will enjoy the large kitchen/dinette with patio doors leading you out to a beautiful back yard. Upstairs you will find the spacious master suite, complete with whirlpool tub, shower and double vanity sinks. Finally, you will have deeded lake access to Hunter’s Lake and will be able to enjoy all the many amenities this fabulous subdivision has to offer.

When transfering to Wisconsin one may be apprehensive about finding a home or a community that will make them feel comfortable. Can we find a home that will be what I’m looking for? Will it be nicer/larger than my current home? What will it cost?
One may have interests in golf, boating, fishing, or biking. Finding a community that makes you feel comfortable is just as important as the home one lives in.
If golfing is your activity there are numerous opportunites in both public and private courses. Lining both sides of the I94 corridor is Brookfield Hills, Willow Run, Western Lakes, Nagawaukee, and Pagonica. A mere 3 and a half miles to the south off Hwy 83 is The Legend at Brandybrook, an 18 hole, newer, private golf course community that challenges even the most acomplished professional. The community exists with stately homes, a clubhouse, pool, tennis courts, and exercise facility. Four miles to the north off Hwys 16 and KE is Bristlecone Pines . A community larger than The Legend, also with tennis courts, a pool, and clubhouse. Both of these clubs are private although one does not need to live in the neighborhood to belong to either club.
Boating and fishing can be done at one of the 120 Lakes in the Lake Country area. Lakes such as Pewaukee, Nagawicka, Okauchee, LaBelle, the Nemabins Upper and Lower and the Nashotahs Upper and Lower, are quite plentiful and have public access. Most have public ramps and some have life guards at the beaches.
The glacier-drumlin trail provides scenic trials for the avid rider.
Homes range in price from the low hundred thousand to several million. Their style, age, and size vary as well. The school districts are ranked as some of the best in the country.

One of the jewels of Lake Country is Lac La Belle. The sprawling 1164 acres of Lac La Belle stretch into three different communities, The City of Oconomowoc, The Town of Oconomowoc and The Village of Lac La Belle. At the deepest point the lake is only 46 feet, which offers some of the warmest lake water in the Lake Country region. The sandy bottom and low vegetation growth offers a swimmers a very clear lake. The shallow lake attracts many different kinds of fish as well from largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie and walleye. If you would like a complete synopsis of the lake from a fishing standpoint just email me at; ghanon@shorewest.com or Click Here for a Map. If you Click Here, you can view the lake characteristics for fishing. Besides fishing many lake residents enjoy, sailing, water skiing, pontoon boating, swimming and enjoying the spectacular sunsets.
Currently we have 17 properties for sale on the lake from $330,000 to almost $2,000,000. This stunning home that is pictured
is just off the lake and has fabulous panoramic views of a good deal of the lake. The stunning attention to detail for this shingle styled home is apparent in each room. The entire house has cherry floors. Priced at $1,499,900, this is a great opportunity to own a large estate just off Lac La Belle. For more details on this home at 160 Monastery, call me at 1-888-HEY GLEN or drop me an email (ghanon@shorewest.com). Lac La Belle is truly one of the hidden secrets in Lake Country!
