There’s No Place Like Home!
Click your heels and find your way home via the yellow brick road in Oconomowoc this Thursday, August 13th. Bring your friends to downtown Oconomowoc for the 70th anniversary of the premier showing of ‘The Wizard of Oz.” The citywide celebration will culminate in an outdoor viewing of the movie on a 40 foot screen at 8:30 PM. Some events happening prior to the screening include:
- the unveiling of an historical marker near the former Strand Theater where the movie was shown to the public for the first time
- children’s activities including bounce houses, activity stations, giveaways and face painting
- Look -a-like contests and 25 costumed characters roaming the streets
- Concerts and shopping galore
- A memorabilia collection is on display
- Concessions will be available
- Super Secret Guest (hint they were alive and little in 1939)
This event occurs in the middle of Oconomowoc’s festival week, which concludes with a juried Art Festival, August 15th and 16th, held at beautiful Fowler Park overlooking Fowler Lake. This Festival has something for everyone from kid’s activities and performances to stunning photography, paintings, glass works, jewelry and other fine art pieces.
